Comparison · Tested October 3, 2026

Amazon’s Selling Partner plugin vs Agent Central, tested on the same account.

On September 23, Amazon released its Selling Partner plugin, which connects Seller Central to Claude. We put it head to head with Agent Central on the same US seller account: 12 questions sellers actually ask, three runs each, in fresh Claude sessions.

On the sales questions both returned identical figures, down to the cent, so accuracy wasn’t what separated them; coverage and speed were. Amazon’s plugin can’t see Amazon Ads data, so it couldn’t answer the questions about wasted search-term spend or TACOS, and it could only partly answer profit after fees and ad spend. Agent Central answered 11 of the 12 in full and was faster on 7 of the 8 questions both answered in full.

Sales figures

Last week’s sales, last year’s matching week and 18 months of monthly totals came out identical on both, down to the cent. Each assistant said which definition of “last week” it used.

Ads questions

Amazon’s plugin said it has no advertising data. Agent Central listed the search terms that spent without a sale and calculated TACOS by product, noting which ad types Amazon doesn’t split by product.

Profit by product

Amazon’s plugin returned revenue by product and account-level fee totals. Agent Central ranked products by profit after Amazon fees and ad spend and listed what it left out, such as cost of goods.

Inbound shipments

Agent Central compared shipped and received units on every shipment and, in all three runs, found one that had closed 26 units short: a reimbursement claim waiting to be filed.

Stockout risk

Agent Central counts stock held in Amazon Warehousing and Distribution, so it shows how much of the risk you can cover by moving inventory you already own. Amazon’s plugin uses Amazon’s restock forecast.

Listing problems

Both flagged the same listing errors. Agent Central also lets your assistant look at listing health next to sales and ad data in the same conversation.

What Agent Central adds

The questions Amazon’s plugin can’t reach.

Ads next to sales and fees

Search terms, campaigns, ad spend and TACOS sit beside your sales and Amazon fees, so your assistant can answer the questions that cost you money. Amazon’s plugin has no ads data.

Profit by product

Rank products by what they actually made after Amazon fees and ad spend, with what’s excluded spelled out, instead of revenue and an account-wide fee total.

Inbound shipments reconciled

Shipped versus received units for every FBA shipment, so a shipment that closed short shows up before the reimbursement window does.

Ad history that stays

Amazon’s ads reports only reach back 60 to 95 days. Agent Central keeps your ad history for as long as your account is connected, so last year’s Q4 is still there when this year’s starts.

Every marketplace, every assistant

23 marketplaces are included in the price, and the same account works in Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code and any assistant that supports MCP.

Fewer lookups, faster answers

Agent Central answered with a median of 5 lookups to Amazon’s plugin’s 10, and was faster on 7 of the 8 questions both answered in full.

What Amazon’s plugin does well

  • It’s built by Amazon, and you connect it with a Seller Central login in about a minute.
  • It reads listing problems live and ships with Amazon-written guidance for fixing them, with every change waiting for your approval.
  • Its stockout answers use Amazon’s own restock forecast and suggested quantities.

How we tested

We used one US seller account that we operate, which sells about 1,000 units a week across roughly 50 products and runs Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands campaigns. Both were connected through the same Claude account, and every session used Claude Opus 5.5. Each question ran in a fresh session with only one of the two connections switched on, and Amazon’s plugin ran with the guidance skills Amazon ships with it.

Neither assistant was allowed to change anything. Each question ran three times on each product, with both answering the same question at the same time so they saw the same data, and we checked the figures against Amazon’s own reports. The test doesn’t cover making changes, Amazon Quick, or assistants other than Claude.
